Description
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) wanted to promote inclusive development in the ger areas (informal settlements) of Ulaanbaatar through investments in extensions and upgrades to water supply, wastewater collection, and district heating infrastructure. ADB also wanted to provide technical assistance in reforming legal, regulatory, and institutional frameworks for urban service provision.
Service Provided
DHInfrastructure advised on options for reforming the supply of urban services (water and sanitation services in particular) in Mongolia's capital of Ulaanbaatar. We advised on institutional, legal, and regulatory changes, including improvements to existing performance contracts between Ulaanbaatar and the water and sanitation providers and steps required for the eventual implementation of a lease contract in the sector.
